Cochin – Athirapally – Munnar -Thekkady – Alleppey – Varkala – Kovalam – Trivandrum

Day :- 1 Cochin 

On arrival at the Cochin airport or railway station. Check in to the hotel. In the afternoon, set off for a city tour covering, Dutch Palace (Friday Holiday), Synagogue (Friday Saturday Holiday), St. Francis Church (Sunday Holiday), Chinese Fishing Nets, Maritime Museum (Monday Holiday), Dutch Cemetery and Santa Cruz Basilica. You can try the Indian holistic system of Medicine – Ayurveda (at extra charge). and after tea, proceed to the cultural show. Overnight stay in Cochin.

Day :- 2 Cochin – Athirampilly (80 kms / 2 hrs)

Checkout from the hotel at 6:30am for the onward journey to Athirapally. Enroute visit Kodanadu, the elephant training camp, situated on the picturesque banks of the river Periyar which is a perfect spot for picnic and sightseeing. The elephant training centre is one of the largest in South India. Twice a day the elephants are lined up for their dip in the Periyar river and it is a magnificient sight to watch the jumbos while they revel in the water. A mini zoo for wild animals is also there. After breakfast, proceed toAthirapally, the land of rivers and forests has something to boast of, the splendorous, 80-feet high and 330-feet wide, waterfalls which has rightfully earned the title – the Niagara Falls of India. Check in to the hotel and rest of the day enjoy the beauty and stunning glory of nature in the Athirampilly waterfalls and the forest. Overnight stay at Athirampilly.

Day :- 3 Athirampilly – Munnar (135 kms / 4 hrs)

Check out of the hotel after breakfast for the onward journey to Munnar. Munnar, the land of misty tea with the serenity of a newly wed Indian bride with all her paraphernalias regally adorned. Drive leisurely stopping at beautiful sights, birds, small waterfalls, etc… Enroute, visit the spice plantation, tea museum and a soft trek in the tea plantation. Check in to the hotel. Overnight stay in the hotel

Day :- 4 Munnar – Thekkady (110 kms / 4 hrs)

After breakfast check out from the hotel. Proceed to visit Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, Eco Point and proceed for the onward journey to Thekkady. Thekkady  is one of Indias most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries, where you can watch wildlife at close range. Lying close to the plantations, in the rich jungles of Periyar. It is one of the worlds most fascinating natural wildlife reserves – the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Spread across 777 sq. km, of which 360 sq. km is thick evergreen forest, at an altitude of 700-900 metres above sea level. It was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Check in to the hotel after rest go for the boat trip in the splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar river. After, the guest is free to move around Kumily, the spice town, where you can experience the fragrance of Pepper and Cardamom. Kumily is the nearest town to Thekkady just 4 KMs from the boat landing.

Day :- 5 Thekkady – Alleppey (140 kms / 4 hrs) )

Check out of the hotel after breakfast for the onward journey to Alleppey. Alleppey, the backwater kingdom, with a labyrinth of waterways crisscrossing the district making it more of nature’s blue strokes to be traversed  with the famous houseboats, originally called Kettuvallams. Check in to the houseboat for an overnight stay in the houseboat starting from 12 noon with a welcome drink. The boat departs for a slow progress through the vast backwaters, passing small islands. You would be able to see the village life at close quarters. You can also swim in the backwaters at certain locations. Have lunch, tea & snacks, dinner in the boat. Overnight stay in the houseboat.

Day :- 6 Alleppey – Varkala (120 kms / 3 hrs)

Check out from the houseboat at 9 am after breakfast and proceed to Varkala the only place in Kerala where the hills come close to the sea. The uniqueness here is the merging of cliffs with the Arabian Sea. Varkala has many springs which make it one of the sought-after tourist spot. One of the important beaches of this place is the Papanasam Beach, and close to this beach rests the famous Janardhana Swamy Temple which is more than 2000 years old. The Janardhanaswamy Temple is another hotspot of the place. Check in to the hotel and laze yourself in the beach. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day :- 7 Varkala – Kovalam (60 kms / 1.30 hr)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Kovalam the land of crescent beaches which stretches along the azure blue waters which is lined with  coconut trees, makes it a naturally desirable tourist destination. it is today a favourite haunt of domestic as well as foreign tourists who throng the sandy palm-fringed beaches and the nearby attractions throughout the year. Check in to the hotel and leisure yourself on the beach.

Day :- 8 Kovalam  – Trivandrum (Sightseeing)

After breakfast proceed for Trivandrum sightseeing starting with SRI PADMANABHASWAMY TEMPLE –which is believed to be around 260 years old. The deity of the temple, Padmanabha (an incarnation of Vishnu) reclines on the sacred serpent in the inner sanctum.  NAPIER MUSEUM – The building is a combination of the Kerala, Mughal, Chinese and Italian architectural styles. The building has a unique natural air-conditioning system. A visit to this museum gives you glimpses of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. SRI CHITRA ART GALLERY – The Gallery houses paintings from the Mughal, Rajput and Tanjore schools of art and has a rare collection of paintings by Raja Ravi Varma, Svetoslav and Nicholas Roerich. An Oriental collection consisting of paintings from China, Japan, Tibet and Bali are a visual treat to the visitor. OBSERVATORY , SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM, CHACHA NEHRU CHILDREN’S MUSEUM. By evening return back to the hotel and overnight stay in the hotel.

Day :- 9 Kovalam  – Trivandrum (15 kms / 30 mins.)

After breakfast check-out from the hotel/resort and directly transfer to Trivandrum Airport / Railway station on time to board your flight/train for your onward journey.
