Advantages of Ayurveda

Image
Ayurveda, the most sophisticated and accurate approach in health care was introduced by some eminent people around 5000 years ago in India Ayurveda aims at finding the root of a disease and then eradicating it completely from the patient whereas Allopathy aims at giving patient an instantaneous relief by destroying organisms that caused the disease but it is not guaranteed that the disease is permanently cured. The philosophy of Ayurveda is to prevent human beings from unnecessary sufferings and to give them a long and healthy life. Ayurvedic treatment consists of natural herbs and is based on direct sense perception, logical inference and hearing from realized souls and saints. Ayurvedic treatment mainly consists of essence of fruits, vegetables, spices and natural herbs which helps in curing diseases without having any side effects on the patient's body. Though it is not the fastest treatment but surely the most effective one. Ayurveda is well aware of the system of body

How to Save Trees

Recycle in a smart way. Some good ways to do this are: 1. Throw paper and cardboard in a bag separately from cans, glass and plastics. Look for tips on recycling so you know that your efforts will be rewarded with recycled material. Cut down on and share magazines, return unwanted catalogs to the sender. 2. Don't make exceptions at restaurants. If a waiter/waitress brings you napkins, just say no nicely. 3. Before printing a picture or document, ask yourself, "Do I really need to print this out?" If you're writing a paper for school, most teachers will accept neat handwritten work. 4. Try to use both sides of your papers. Use a printer that prints on both sides automatically Make a draft box(if you are in your office). Put in this box all the papers that have been printed on one side and use them as draft papers. 5. Make sure any paper you buy (toilet rolls, tissue papers, writing paper) comes from recycled sources. 6. Reuse paper bags or compost receipts and

Do We Really Need To Save Trees? Why?

Image
Since the beginning, trees have furnished us with two of life's essentials, food and oxygen. As we evolved, they provided additional necessities such as shelter, medicine, and tools. Today, their value continues to increase and more benefits of trees are being discovered as their role expands. Trees reduce our carbon footprint and mitigate the effects of climate change; trees increase biodiversity essential to human existence; trees store and purify water for agriculture and drinking; trees provide us with food, medicines and other forest produce; and trees beautify our surroundings. Ecological and Environmental Value Trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. During the process of photosynthesis, trees take in carbon dioxide and produce the oxygen we breathe. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, "One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon d

Conserve Water

The Importance of Water Our bodies need water to function properly. According to Water.org, humans can survive for weeks without food, but for only a few days without water. The plants and animals we eat require water as well, so water crises inevitably become food crises. We also use water for cleaning our bodies and our homes, and for producing power such as in hydroelectric dams. The World Water Council reports that the human population of the planet is on track to grow 40 to 50 percent within the next 50 years, putting additional pressure on our already shrinking supply of fresh water. Why should we conserve water? Reducing our use of water will decrease water pollution, increase energy savings, and create more efficient use of our water resources. 780 million people around the world lack access to clean water causing 3.4 million deaths, many of those being children. Consider the fact that every 21 seconds a child dies from water related diseases. These overwhelming numbers ca

Climate Change

Image
Climate change is caused by an increase in the earth’s temperature. Natural causes can include volcanic activity, a change in the energy from the sun and variations in the earth’s orbit around the sun. NATURAL CAUSES There is little evidence of dramatic changes in any of these factors sufficient to account for the dramatic temperature increases of the past few decades, and scientists have concluded that the main cause is the increase of the gases water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons in the atmosphere. These gases trap the sun’s energy which reaches the earth’s surface, and reduce the amount reflecting back into space, thus warming the earth’s surface. HUMAN CAUSES The major source of the increased gases is human activity, which has significantly increased these gases since the industrial revolution. The major causes are the burning of fossil fuels for energy generation and transport, and agricultural activities (land clearing, fertiliser u

Causes of Noise Pollution

Image
Noise Pollution or Sound Pollution is when the exposure of people or animals to levels of sound that are annoying, stressful, or damaging to the ears. Causes of Noise or Sound Pollution:- 1. Industrialization : Most of the industries use big machines which are capable of producing large amount of noise from equipments like compressors, generators, exhaust fans, grinding mills also participate in producing big noise. Therefore, you must have seen workers in these factories and industries wearing ear plugs to minimize the effect of noise. 2. Poor Urban Planning : Congested houses, large families sharing small space, fight over parking, frequent fights over basic amenities leads to noise pollution which may disrupt the environment of society. 3. Social Events : Whether it is marriage, parties, pub, disc or place of worship, people normally flout rules set by the local administration and create nuisance in the area. People play songs on full volume and dance till midnight which ma

Causes of Land Pollution

Image
Land pollution is the pollution of the Earth's natural land surface by industrial commercial, domestic and agricultural activities. 1. Increase in urbanization :- Construction uses up forestland. This leads to the exploitation and destruction of forests causing imbalance to climate. There is more demand for water, hence reservoirs are built causing the loss of land. 2. Increase in agricultural land :- As the human population grew there was a greater demand for food, thus more land allocated to agriculture. 3. Overuse of pesticides and chemical fertilizers :- Chemical herbicides and pesticides kill bees and other pollinators. Chemical fertilizers do not put minerals into the soil. Consequently, the crops grown have very few minerals and causes non-biodegradable chemicals to enter and accumulate in the food chain. Vegetation alone has the unique ability to convert inorganic minerals absorbed from the soil and water into organic forms that animals and humans can use. Beca
